Dental Implants, Bridges and Dentures
A dental implant is a titanium post placed in the jaw that supports a crown, and it is the closest replacement to a natural tooth. Bridges and partial or full dentures are the alternatives. Dr. Ali plans implant cases with 3D cone-beam imaging taken in this office.
A missing tooth is not only cosmetic. Neighbouring teeth drift into the gap, the opposing tooth over-erupts, and chewing shifts to the other side of the mouth. Replacing it early keeps a small problem small.
We offer all three replacement options in this office — implants, fixed bridges, and partial or full dentures — and we will tell you plainly which makes sense for your mouth and your budget.
What happens
3D imaging and plan
A cone-beam scan shows the bone in three dimensions so placement is planned, not improvised.
Placement
The post is placed under local anaesthetic. Most people describe it as easier than they expected.
Healing
The bone integrates with the post over a few months. You are not without a tooth during this time.
The crown
Once healed, the final crown is attached. It brushes and flosses like a normal tooth.
Common questions
How long do implants last?
With good hygiene and regular checkups, implants routinely last decades. The crown on top may need replacing sooner than the post.
Am I a candidate?
Most adults are. The main considerations are enough bone, healthy gums, and controlled diabetes or other conditions that affect healing. The CBCT scan answers the bone question directly.
Implant, bridge or denture — which is right?
It depends on how many teeth are missing, the health of the neighbouring teeth, and your budget. Dr. Ali will lay out all three with real numbers rather than steering you to the most expensive one.
Does insurance cover implants?
Coverage varies widely and many plans cover part of the crown but not the post. We will submit a pre-determination to your plan so you know before you commit.
