Family Dentistry for Every Age
Lakeshore Dental treats children, teenagers and adults in the same office, so a family can be seen together rather than driving to three places. We accept children's Medicaid, and we can usually schedule siblings back to back.
The Standish and Hiawatha neighbourhoods are full of families, and a family dental office should work the way a family actually runs — everyone in one building, ideally on one afternoon.
We see children from their first tooth, teenagers through braces and wisdom teeth, and their parents and grandparents. Nobody gets sent across town.
What happens
First visits for little ones
Short, friendly, and mostly about getting comfortable in the chair. A ride in the chair and a count of the teeth is a successful first visit.
Sealants and fluoride
Thin protective coatings on the biting surfaces of the back teeth, where most childhood cavities start.
Orthodontic screening
We watch how permanent teeth are coming in and flag crowding or bite problems early.
Teens and adults
Sports guards, wisdom-tooth monitoring, and the ordinary maintenance that keeps adult teeth out of trouble.
Common questions
When should my child first see a dentist?
The general guidance is by the first birthday or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short and are largely about building comfort.
Do you take children's Medicaid?
The practice's existing materials state that children's Medicaid is accepted. Please call (612) 601-8993 to confirm your specific program and coverage before booking.
Can our whole family be seen the same day?
Usually, yes. Tell us how many people and their ages when you book and we will try to block consecutive time.
My child is frightened of the dentist. What do you do?
We slow down. We explain each instrument before it is used, we let a parent stay in the room, and we stop when they need a break.
